In February 2022, as the full-scale invasion begins, Associated Press journalists led by Mstyslav Chernov find themselves in Mariupol, encircled by Russian forces. For the twenty days of the siege they film what is happening in the city, and the footage is eventually brought out through a humanitarian corridor. Chernov’s documentary is edited from that material; it won the Audience Award at Sundance and in 2024 became the first Ukrainian film to win an Oscar, for Best Documentary Feature.
